Glass scratches are very obvious by their nature and the traditional method employed to remove glass scratches was to use cerium oxide (jewellers rouge) either by hand or electric polishing pad. Unfortunately, cerium oxide is an abrasive and whilst it does remove glass scratches, it achieves this by taking down the stock of the glass to the bottom of the scratch and this creates lensing and distortion.
Chicago Glass offer to remove glass scratches on site using their unique distortion free polishing system, which moves the molecules of the glass into the glass scratches and fills the void of the scratch.
This unique process has been tested by both BSI and Scientifics for use on wiper scratched car windscreens where lack of distortion is critical and a legal requirement
There are other processes to remove glass scratches and where they are deep, this can be achieved by resin filling the glass scratches, curing with UV light and polishing smooth. This process does not really remove glass scratches but it does disguise the glass scratches leaving a perfectly flat surface and only faint scars, where the resin meets the edge of the glass scratches
