Glass Scratch Polishing
Glass scratch polishing is the most effective way to restore glass damaged on site and free advice is available from Chicago Glass on 01634 735 616.
Glass polishing is usually carried out using a sander type of electric drill and a glass polishing compound. Scratch polishing usually takes about 1 hour per A4 area of damage, depending on the depth of scratches. Glass scratch polishing can be undertaken manually using jewellers rouge but takes a considerable time to complete.
To achieve distortion free glass scratch polishing, special equipment and compounds have to be used that are much less abrasive. Glass scratch polishing in this way does take about 2 hours per A4 area but the glass polishing results are outstanding.
Glass scratch polishing can be avoided in certain circumstances by using a sacrificial film applied over the glass scratch and if the glass scratches are light, the film will optically mask the damage as the adhesive wicks into the glass scratch.
The most important aspect of glass scratch polishing is to keep the distortion (lensing) of the glass to an absolute minimum. Most polishing methods use an abrasive as the medium to solve the problem. Only Chicago Glass can offer a wide selection of solutions to obtain the best results most cost effectively.
